a handout on influenza

We’re not seeing much influenza activity yet, but flu season typically starts picking up in November. Now is a good time to prepare, especially since the flu can cause more severe illness than many other respiratory viruses.

Some children are at increased risk of more serious illness from influenza, because of conditions such as diabetes, asthma, immunity problems, or being treated with immune-suppressing medications. They are especially vulnerable to complications and should get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Please get a vaccination if you and your child have not yet had it this year!

This year, we will be administering the Flucelvax® flu vaccine.

Flucelvax is a cell-based influenza vaccine, which means it is not manufactured using chicken eggs. Studies have shown that this type of vaccine may offer improved effectiveness.

We believe Flucelvax represents a superior option with the potential to help prevent more flu infections this season.

Your family is welcome to receive the vaccine during our walk-in hours:

Tuesday–Friday
⏰ 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM
⏰ 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our nurse triage line.
