Same-Day Sick Child Visits
Certain symptoms may indicate your child needs immediate attention. Contact us if your child has a fever of 100.4ºF or higher if under one year, a fever lasting over three days, unusual symptoms beyond three days, relentless pain, or a widespread rash. For children over one year, a fever of 102ºF or higher with symptoms like a rash, stiff neck, vomiting, or headache may indicate a serious issue. Call our office early in the day to arrange a
same-day sick visit, or reach out with questions or to schedule a visit.
Walk-In Visits
If your child has a concern suitable for a
walk-in visit, feel free to come during our designated walk-in hours, which are convenient for busy families. Please note that children are seen on a first come, first served basis by the available physician or nurse practitioner, rather than their primary doctor. If you're uncertain about whether to proceed with a walk-in appointment, you can always call our nurse triage for guidance on the best course of action tailored to your child's needs.
After Hours Care
For non-urgent medical inquiries like mild illnesses, constipation, rashes, and over-the-counter dosages, use the "Symptom Checker" on our homepage or call the Nurse Triage Line at 913-906-0900 (Option #1), Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. For
after hours care, call 913-906-0900 (Option #1) or (816) 234-3188. Children's Mercy nurses will respond within 60 minutes. There is a $10 fee for after-hours calls. For emergencies, please use emergency services at Children's Mercy-Kansas.
